CNX User Diagnostics

Troubleshoot language, time zone, permissions, licences and browser behaviour for the signed-in user.

Overview

CNX User Diagnostics helps support teams and site owners troubleshoot faster. It shows the details that shape the signed-in user's experience (language, time zone, permissions, licences and browser behaviour) so you can quickly understand why a page looks or works differently for someone.

Add it to a help or support page and ask people to share what they see when they report a problem.

Features

  • Language and time zone. See the settings that affect how content, dates and times appear.
  • Permissions. Check what the signed-in user can access on the current site.
  • Licences. Confirm which Microsoft 365 licences are assigned to the user.
  • Browser behaviour. Identify browser details that can change how pages display and behave.

Configuration

CNX User Diagnostics reports on whoever is signed in, so there's little to set up. Configure the web part in the property pane: with the page in edit mode, select the web part, then select Edit web part (the pencil icon).

Usage

Once the package is deployed to your tenant, add CNX User Diagnostics to a modern SharePoint page:

  1. Open the page and select Edit.

  2. Hover where you want the web part to appear and select the + (Add a new web part) button.

  3. Search for CNX User Diagnostics and select it.

  4. Review the property pane settings, then preview the page to check the diagnostics it shows.

  5. Select Republish to share your changes.

Examples

  • Service desk triage

Ask people to open the diagnostics page and share a screenshot when they log a ticket.

  • Multilingual rollout

Confirm the language and time zone settings of users in different regions.

Best practices

  • Place the web part on a page everyone can access.
  • Tell people what information the page shows before they share it with support.
  • If the package requests Microsoft Graph permissions, approve them so licence details can be shown.
  • Pair it with CNX Support so people can find help and share diagnostics in one place.
