Terms of use for CanoeUX SharePoint Web Parts Essentials

License version 1.0, Effective October 14, 2026

These terms of use are the software license of CanoeUX SharePoint Web Parts Essentials (the “Package”). They apply however you get the Package: as a download from canoeux.com or from the Microsoft SharePoint Store, both sources authorized by CanoeUX.

When you get the Package from the Microsoft SharePoint Store, Microsoft's terms and the Microsoft Privacy Statement also apply to your use of the store. These terms govern the Package itself. How the Package handles information is described in its privacy notice.

CanoeUX SharePoint Web Parts Essentials Software License

Proprietary software provided free of charge

CanoeUX SharePoint Web Parts Essentials (the “Package”) is proprietary software provided free of charge. No CanoeUX product license fee, purchase, or subscription is required to download, install, configure, or use the Package in accordance with these terms.

Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Microsoft Graph, and related Microsoft services are not included. Your use of those services remains subject to your organization's applicable Microsoft agreements, licenses, tenant configuration, and permissions.

Subject to these terms, CanoeUX grants you a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to install, configure, and use the original, unmodified Package on any number of development, test, and production Microsoft 365 tenants.

Optional contributions (opens in a new tab) are voluntary and are not required to obtain or exercise this license. Consultants and service providers may charge for their own professional services, but neither CanoeUX nor a third party may charge you a product license fee for the Package unless CanoeUX separately authorizes it in writing.

The Package is provided without any commitment to ongoing support, maintenance, updates, fixes, or compatibility with future platform changes. The warranty disclaimers and liability limitations below apply.

By downloading, installing, deploying, copying, or using the Package, you agree to these terms.

License grant

Subject to these terms, CanoeUX grants you a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to download, install, configure, and use the original, unmodified CanoeUX SharePoint Web Parts Essentials Package for personal, internal business, governmental, nonprofit, and commercial organizational purposes, on any number of Microsoft 365 tenants.

This license also permits consultants and service providers to install and configure the original, unmodified Package on behalf of their clients, subject to the restrictions in these terms.

Redistribution

You may provide the original, unmodified Package to your employees, contractors, clients, and service providers solely for permitted installation, deployment, administration, or use. Every copy must include these license terms and all copyright, trademark, attribution, and third-party notices.

You may not publish the Package on a public download site, marketplace, application store, repository, or other distribution service without CanoeUX's prior written permission. You may not distribute a modified, repackaged, renamed, partial, or rebranded copy.

Consultants may install the Package for clients, but clients must obtain the Package directly from CanoeUX unless CanoeUX authorizes another distribution method in writing.

Termination

This license terminates automatically if you materially breach these terms and do not remedy the breach within 30 days after receiving written notice from CanoeUX. A breach involving unauthorized sale, public redistribution, removal of attribution, or misuse of CanoeUX trademarks may result in immediate termination.

Upon termination, you must stop using and distributing the Package and remove it from tenants under your control, except to the extent continued retention is required by law or reasonably necessary for backup and audit purposes.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • maintaining the Microsoft 365 and SharePoint licenses required to use the Package;
  • reviewing and approving any Microsoft Graph or other API permissions requested by the Package;
  • testing the Package in a non-production environment before production deployment;
  • maintaining appropriate backups and recovery procedures;
  • determining whether the Package meets your organization's security, privacy, accessibility, records-management, and compliance requirements;
  • configuring and using the Package in accordance with applicable law and organizational policy; and
  • obtaining any notices, consents, or authorizations required for information processed through the Package.

Acceptance

By downloading, copying, installing, deploying, or using the Package, you agree to these license terms. If you do not agree, do not download, install, deploy, or use the Package.

License terms

Who can use it?

Anyone: individuals, businesses, government organizations, nonprofits, and consultants.

Where can it be installed?

On any number of Microsoft 365 tenants, including development, test, and production tenants.

Can consultants deploy it for clients?

Yes. Consultants and service providers may download, install, deploy, and configure the original, unmodified Package for their clients. They may charge for their professional services, but they may not charge a product license fee or other fee for the Package itself.

Can it be redistributed?

Only the original, unmodified Package (cnx-spfx-essentials.sppkg), only to your employees, contractors, clients, and service providers for permitted use, and only with these license terms and all notices. Public redistribution and modified copies are not permitted (see Redistribution).

Can it be sold?

No fee may be charged for the Package itself or for granting access to the Package. However, consultants and service providers may charge for their own professional services, including assessment, installation, deployment, configuration, training, support, and related Microsoft 365 or SharePoint services.

Any such charge must be for the services provided and not for the Package itself. The Package must not be represented as a paid or licensed product of the consultant or service provider.

Can it be modified?

No. The Package may not be modified, decompiled, reverse engineered, or used to create derivative works, except where applicable law expressly permits it.

Configuring web-part properties, creating SharePoint lists or libraries used by the Package, approving requested API permissions, applying tenant or site settings, and using documented deployment scripts do not constitute modification of the Package.

Nothing in these terms prohibits reasonable security scanning, malware analysis, vulnerability assessment, or inspection required by an organization's security and compliance processes, provided that the Package is not modified, publicly disclosed, or redistributed contrary to these terms.

Must attribution remain?

Yes. CanoeUX copyright notices, branding, and license notices must remain intact. CanoeUX keeps all rights not expressly granted in these terms, and the license does not grant any right to use CanoeUX trademarks.

Is support included?

No support is guaranteed. CanoeUX may help on a best-effort basis, at its discretion.

Are updates promised?

No. There is no commitment to future releases, fixes, or compatibility with future changes to SharePoint, Microsoft 365, or Microsoft Graph.

What warranty applies?

Disclaimer of warranties. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Package is provided “as is” and “as available,” with all faults and without warranties, representations, conditions, or guarantees of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. CanoeUX does not warrant that the Package will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, compatible with future versions of Microsoft 365, SharePoint, or Microsoft Graph, or suitable for any particular purpose.

Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CanoeUX will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, business, goodwill, or anticipated savings arising out of or relating to the Package. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CanoeUX's total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Package will not exceed the amount paid to CanoeUX for the Package.

Because the Package is provided free of charge, the amount paid for the Package will normally be zero. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

What about third-party components?

Third-party components included in the Package remain subject to their own licenses and notices, which continue to apply. If these terms conflict with an applicable third-party license regarding a third-party component, the third-party license controls solely with respect to that component.

General terms

Governing law and venue

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Subject to any rights that cannot be waived under applicable law, the courts located in Ontario will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these terms.

Severability

If any provision of these terms is held invalid or unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

No waiver

A failure or delay by CanoeUX in enforcing a provision does not waive its right to enforce that provision later.

Assignment

You may not assign or transfer this license except in connection with a merger, reorganization, or transfer of substantially all relevant business assets, and only if the successor agrees to these terms.

The license terms that apply to a version of the Package are the terms provided with that version when it is downloaded. CanoeUX may publish revised terms for future versions, but revised terms do not retroactively change the license applicable to a previously downloaded version unless required by law or accepted by you.
